Strawberry Moon

Ask me what is my favourite fruit… go on! Yes, you got it, strawberries! And how thrilled was I to learn that there is a moon named after my favourite fruit🙂 Although there are as ever, a few names for the moon – “Mead Moon”, “Rose Moon”, “Thunder Moon” and of course “Strawberry Moon” which has to be the name I use.

So this month’s moon is supposed to be a supermoon, otherwise known as a perigee full moon. The word perigee describes the moon’s closest point to Earth for a given month. Two years ago, when the closest and largest full moon fell on 19 March 2011 many people used the term “supermoon”, which hadn’t really been heard before. Last year, this term was used again to describe the year’s closest full moon on 6 May 2012. Now the term supermoon is being used a lot.

Anyway, here are some photos taken under the moon of…. well, strawberries🙂

There is a beautiful cove just outside of San José called Cala Higuera (Cove of figs (or something related to figs)) and this is where I went. A stunningly beautiful place where can forget you’re in the real world, especially by the light of a silvery moon.

The dirt track leading to Cala Higuera is also very special, it’s hard to believe you are close to a bustling town in the summer!

Then a quick trip to the mirador in San José for a look at Genoveses bay.
